Things I Love Thursday

Does she need an explanation? I didn’t think so.  Ignore the mess. This is an old pic.  She helped me clean out my closet… and in the process, I thought putting one of my shirts on her would be a brilliant idea. She loved it, too.

Zoey is doing well… great, actually! We brought her home during lunch.  She is such a happy and resilient pup.

Sushi.  Last night Seth and I had an impromptu date night. Since we didn’t have the pup, we thought it would be the perfect time to go out.

Sugar-free white chocolate almond bark.  After dinner, we hit the mall… One of our favorites is the candy shop! Yummies!

Shopping!  Even better… Killer deals!  Yep. We stopped at Old Navy while at the mall.  I got  a cardigan, two rompers, a henley tank and a t-shirt dress for $14.95 out of pocket. BOO-YAH!  I gave Seth my $10 rewards card, and he picked out three pairs of flip-flops (who does that?) and a $0.97 long sleeve collared shirt.  His total came to $10 even, so the rewards card took care of it. Pretty sweet.

I admit, I have been shopping a bit too much lately. I need to slow my roll. Mmmmm. Rolls.

My lunch.  Don’t judge.

What are you loving right now?

Diets and Happy Thoughts for Zoey!

6 07 2011

Okay, so yesterday I started my beach diet.  I read the 17 Day Diet book last week on Kindle.  I wasn’t expecting to want to follow it. I actually enjoy reading nutrition books, including books about fad diets.  I got halfway through the book and really thought it sounded worth a shot. I will give it a whirl!  Right now I’m polishing off the unaccepted foods (and booze!), while keeping my calories in check. Open-mouthed smile I will start later in the week. Excuses, excuses. Winking smile

On to more important matters…  My baby Zoey was spayed this morning.  I am so sad for her, and I hope she isn’t in too much pain or discomfort.  Last night we took up her food at 6:00 p.m.  She cried because she was hungry. Sad smile  This morning she was sad looking for her food, too.

Seth called me before lunch to update me on her status.  She is such a happy excitable puppy! When he took her to the vet, she was stoked! Her tail was wagging so hard that her whole body was wagging. She does that any time there are new animals to play with, and even more when there are new people to play with!  She had no idea what was coming!  So please send happy healing thoughts her way!  They are keeping her overnight.

I will miss my little buddy hogging up the chaise this evening.

Although, I think Miss Kitty will enjoy some time away. She does not approve.

… not sure why all my puppy pics are so grainy! Oh well!

Happy hump day!

July 2011 Goals

1 07 2011

Happy July! Where did the year go? It’s almost halfway over!

With a new month comes new goals. I have been SERIOUSLY SLACKING in the goal department. I’m sure you have noticed that I have been slacking in the blog department, too… Hmmm. Maybe I’m slacking in a lot of departments.  I haven’t been slacking in the puppy lovin’ department. My little monster gets almost all of my attention when I am not in the office.

Warning:  This is a complete brainstorming post.  It may not flow. It may have MANY grammatical errors. Consider yourself forewarned.

Let’s break things down into sections to make things easier…

June 2011 Goals

Blog:

  1. Blog at least THREE times a week.
  2. Incorporate at least ONE new recipe each week.  My food has been lazy and unexciting lately. I need to bring more pleasure to my plate and palate! Winking smile

Is there anything you would like to see on the blog? Please let me know. I am always short for content.

Health/Fitness:

  1. Drop 10 pounds.  I would REALLY like to drop ten pounds before vacation.  Yes, ten may seem like a lot, but I am holding on to a lot of bloat and swelling.  I am including that in the weight to drop.  I would be content with anywhere around a seven pound drop. Ten would make me ecstatic!  I’m also not cleared to get my heart rate raised for a couple weeks, so this is an extra challenging challenge.
  2. Eat 2+ servings of vegetables daily.  I know that doesn’t sound like much, but veggies have not sounded appealing lately. I will force feed them to myself.

Financial:

  1. Save $300 extra cash for vacation.  I have $100 set aside, so I have to save an additional $200 of pocket money for vacation. It is an all-inclusive trip, but I would just feel better having that much cash on my person. It would be great if we didn’t dip into checking while there, too.
  2. Cash only.  It is so much easier to be fiscally responsible when we have a set amount of cash to spend.

Create:

  1. Stone purple suit.  I have been putting this off for freaking forever.
  2. Sew two pieces.  I really want to learn to sew. I need to just do it.

So, there you have it. I haven’t been setting goals, and these seem attainable enough.

What are your goals for the month?

Slacking…

Two-a-days *And Cheap Movie Date!!!*

9 06 2011

Uhm.  No, not training… these darn tortillas.  I have been having two a day for three days now.

Since I had to fast this morning for a 10:00a.m. blood test (routine checkup), and because I did “cardio” (just incline walking at a slow pace… s-l-o-w… no sweating, I didn’t want to wash my hair this morning – yes, I am THAT lazy!), I was STARVIN’ MARVIN by the time I could actually eat.  So I threw together another pizza.

IMG_2175[1]

I made this one saucier.  And baconier. Baconier. Mmmm.

Because I was STILL hangry, I threw together more chicken, veg, and olive oil mayo (I am OBSESSED with this stuff. I wish I could make it at home, but it never turns out yummy.), and ate some more.

IMG_2176[1]

And I pretty much had the same “chicken salad” for lunch, but on a coconut flour tortilla. No wonder I get sick of my food quickly. I get on kicks and wear them the eff out!.

IMG_2177[1]

I think we’re having a big juicy steak for dinner. CAN’T WAIT!!!  I will feel SO MUCH better after eating that than I did at the birthday party last night… six slices of pizza, a chili dog, BBQ chips, cake with tons of icing (by request, because icingismymostfavoritest part), beers, Doritos, and cheese & crackers… Yep. I throw down like a 200+ pound man… or maybe an even bigger gorilla.  What can I say? I like to eat! Open-mouthed smile  Good thing I don’t eat like that daily.

Random side note: I also CAN’T WAIT to watch the NEW X-Men in the theatre!!! Seth and I are definitely hitting up the cinema for a date night this weekend! WOOP!

If you want to score TWO movie tickets for only $9, CLICK HERE TODAY!, this coupon will only be up for  less than 15 more hours. JUMP ON IT PEOPLE! You KNOW you want to watch Wolverine become Wolverine.  Or maybe you want to see Zak Galifinakis (I refuse to Google his name to check spelling.) act a fool in the Hangover II, because that IS some funny shit.

On ANOTHER random side note, a friend shared a site with me this morning.  (Thanks Tori!!)  And, while I’m not a raw foodie by any means (I do not food discriminate! I want it all! Winking smile ), there are so many cool, raw “cheese” recipes on here that I might just have to try a couple!  Who doesn’t love cheese? or “cheese”? or cheeze?… whatever.  Take a look!

Pizza on the brain!

8 06 2011

I have been in a food rut. So much so that most of my usual foods sound gross to me… which leads me to eat not so healthful foods.

Tonight we are going to my nephew’s third birthday party, and pizza is on the menu.  So, naturally, I have been thinking about pizza ever since I found out. Open-mouthed smile  I decided to get a headstart and have pizza for breakfast!

IMG_2169[1]

Personal pan pizza that is healthy? Yes please!  It is also gluten-free and dairy-free for those who are into that sort of thing.

I stumbled across this coconut flour based tortilla recipe and prepped it last night to use as a crust today!  I cut the recipe in half.  You can find my variation to the recipe below.

Pizza Crust

1T coconut flour

2 egg whites

2T water

Avocado Oil (to grease pan)

1.  Mix all ingredients until there are no clumps.

2.  Plop and spread on lightly greased skillet.

3.  Cook like a pancake. Flip! Cook like a pancake. (duh)

VOILA! Pizza crust made! Smile

IMG_2167[1]

Pizza Sauce

1T organic tomato paste

a shake of garlic powder

a shake of onion powder

1. Mix and spread on crust

IMG_2168[1]

Since my pizza crust was cold. I nuked the sauced up crust for 30 seconds in the microwave, then I topped it with the following:

Toppings

1oz chicken breast, cooked and diced

10g green peppers

10g tomatoes

10g red onions

1T (7g) cooked bacon pieces

1. Dig in.

Nutrition Breakdown (entire pizza)

Nomnomnom! I seriously need to get my butt back into the kitchen cooking up some fun meals!  This was delicious!  I will probably have it again later (maybe today? maybe tomorrow?! Winking smile )

Since it is so low in calories, I enjoyed it with a side of almonds.

If you try it, let me know!  I hope you like it as much as I do!! Smile

YAY! It’s Friday!!!

3 06 2011

It’s also National Donut Day.  I fully intend on enjoying a donut later on this evening.

image

Totally.

I hope to find a pink one with sprinkles, too.

A couple fun things happened today.

1) I got this bad boy.

image

and

2) I’m finally not having a bad hair day after a week of frustration.  I kept trying to fix it, but a stubborn part just kept flipping out.  Well, now  I’m just letting it do it’s thing. So what if I didn’t dry it, brush it, or put product in it.  I was thoughtful enough to haphazardly curl three pieces. Hey. Don’t judge.

Otherwise, there is not much to report!  My food intake has improved.  I’d say it was damn near perfect (minus two Snickers bar, two Milky Way Dark bars, and two bottles of red wine).  And, now I am wondering if I have some sort of fetish towards the number two.

Workouts have been awesome. I’m about to wrap up the week with some arms. My entire body is sore. My legs are STILL SORE from Sunday’s leg session. I don’t get sore… I REALLY worked harder this week. GO ME!  Next week I will add in some cardio (hello plyos!) and yoga.

… I wonder if I can coax my hubby into a post-workout beer… or two.

Have a great weekend, y’all! Don’t do anything I wouldn’t do! Smile
