Staycation, Hair Talk and Killer Coupon

18 05 2011

I’m late to the blogging party.  *crickets* Ha! I haz no party. That’s what I get for slacking in the blogging department. Open-mouthed smile

Guess what I’ve been doing this week?

Guess!

Absolutely nothing!

Well, I have been working. I did hook us up with a great vacation in the months to come… registered for classes (didn’t tell y’all that one!), and, most importantly… I RESTED!  Seth is away from home, so I thought it was the perfect time to skip the gym. I have been feeling a burnout approaching, and it had been over half a year since my last break, so it was definitely time! Now I am anxious to hit it hard tomorrow when my break ends! Mission accomplished! CAN’T WAIT! My  new plan is in the works!

Seth  made fun of me for being such a home body while he was away. He called it my staycation.

If you missed my previous post, then you missed the wad of hair I had chopped off.  Rest assured, all that hair went to a good cause!

That was approximately 11” of hair. That left it to just below my shoulder blades, but I had been hankering for a change… I had two pieces of paper with various pics of the same cut. One was longer than the other. All were angled bobs, stacked in the back.   I went ahead opted to go shorter.  The result? Well, the stylist did a fantastic cut job, but a round brush and my hair don’t mix. I left with poofy mom hair!

So, I came home and played with it! First I curled it!

And then I straightened it!

Ignore the goofy faces above! I suck at self pics. LOL!  While I do like the new ‘do… it feels amazing, and I forgot how much I liked having shorter hair, I’m still working out the kinks! I have so much hair that it easily gets mushroom-y as seen above! LOL! I’m getting the hang of fixing it so that it doesn’t do that. Any tips?

Enough hair talk…

Frugal Friday – Mock Syrup

19 03 2010

Whaddup party peeps! I am feeling better by the hour! WOOP! As promised, although late, here’s my Mock Syrup recipe! I LOVE Walden’s Farm pancake water syrup. I don’t love the hefty price tag of $3+ per bottle… the bottle isn’t even big! So, I attempted to make my own, with great success! I may try adding a thickening agent next time! I like gooey syrup better than pancake water!

Ingredients:
1c Splenda (or other sucralose sweetener)
1c boiling water
1/2 tablespoon Mapeline extract
1 teaspoon butter extract
1) Dump ingredients into boiling water.
2) Remove from heat.
3) Stir to dissolve.
If you need instructions on how to boil water, well, you’re just S-O-L! :o )
I keep it in a twisty-lid container in the fridge. Enjoy!
