Confession

14 04 2011

I am sick of the PLP challenge.

Today will be day 19.  I’m tired, and it’s beginning to affect recovery.

Booo!

Cardio Kickstart! and FREE MASCARA!

5 04 2011

I FINALLY got my butt in gear for some a.m. cardio on the treadmill! Phew! It felt good!

Here’s how it went down…

Start with a brief walk to warm-up.

Repeat this sequence as many times as you want! (I did it for 15:00 total).

  • Shuffle right (30s)
  • Shuffle left (30s)
  • Jog backwards (30s) <— Be careful! This is scary at first!
  • Walking lunge (30s)
  • Walk or Jog (60s)

Of course, times and speeds can vary, but this is pretty much what I did. I also had the treadmill on a slight incline. My treadmill at home is weird. The speed and incline doesn’t always feel consistent, so I just go with what feels right for me that day.

I finished my cardio session off with 15:00 HIIT! 30 seconds of sprinting with 60s of recovery.  I forgot how fun HIIT can be on the treadmill!

After I hopped off the treadmill, I cranked out Day 10 of the PLP Challenge.  Pull-ups are getting pretty easy! I cranked out ten without a wince (other than my shoulder aching! But it’s almost better, too! Winking smile!

Running in the dark? (and weekend recap)

4 04 2011

I just Googled “sunrise”.

7:09am Tuesday (EDT) – Sunrise in Genieland

15 hours 38 minutes from now

And, yes, I changed my city name for security purposes. Smile (Goofy!)

This brings me to a very important question… How do you morning runners do it before work?  Do you run in the dark?

Weekend Recap

Friday I got to leave work early! WOO HOO! I drove to Fantastic Sam’s to get a quick hair cut, and they moved! DOH! So, I went home and chopshopped my own hair. I figured I had plenty of room for error. LOL!  I even fixed it!

I couldn’t get a good pic, so I just had to take a goofy-faced one! Open-mouthed smile

Later we met up with some friends and enjoyed some tall NewCastles. Yum.

Saturday we went to Wal-Mart for groceries.  I also picked up some clearance paint on a whim. Around noon, this lovely thang arrived in the mail.

I cleared off three shelves in the kitchen, so that I could bring my envisioned liquor cabinet/wine rack to life!  I had to find a new home for my cookbooks for this to work!

I stuffed them in a cabinet.

Well, I don’t own a single power tool, so the wine rack never made it up. I wrestled with it for hours. Seth even tried! Sad smile  The damn shelves are too hard! I couldn’t even hammer a nail in them!  I have another idea for the shelf area, but I can’t figure out how to get the damn things down! WTH?

So, I moved on to the dungeon bathroom. It’s not even near finished, but I made some decent progress…

Sneak peak progression…

Before my kidney drama, I pictured this room black and white… subway tiles… checkers… so I went to town with black and white paint. The black made this tiny closet of a bathroom seem even smaller. So, I ditched that plan, shut the door and didn’t return for over a year… until Saturday. (Not even joking.)

Current State:

This bathroom is SUCH an eyesore, but it’s a bit better after a day’s work! So far I have painted the tile using tile paint, painted the sink and other tiled areas that might get wet with an epoxy paint (a surprisingly great result in real life, $10 a can), painted the cabinets ($5 for the clearance primer and $5 for the clearance paint), put down stick-on vinyl tile ($12 a box at Family Dollar!), and I removed the mirror on the vanity.

There is still a ton of things to do!  In no particular order:

  • find wall paper for 2 walls
  • decide on a paint color (I just can’t dig the green walls)
  • figure out the most economical way to refinish the concrete shower stall
  • hang new shower curtain
  • find a replacement vanity mirror
  • tear down ugly shelves, rack and off-center cheapo light above the vanity (WTH?)

This room has been more of an experiment than anything. It’s far away from anything in the house. No one uses it, so I get to test out my skills (or lack of!) without much worry. Smile

After I exhausted myself in the basement. We hit up Goodwill to donate a few bags of clothes and to pick up jeans to make Jorts.

IMG_1465[1]We wanted to show our support for the Cats!  We got beat, but at least we looked cool, right? Okay, maybe not.

Even our flagpole was rocking the jorts.

Sunday… I was hungover. And I jacked up my shoulder playing with my nephew on the pull-up bar! He thought they were fun, but he is way too heavy for me to be shoulder pressing him for pullups OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER…

So, the gym wasn’t high on the weekend’s agenda, but I did rock the 60 Day PLP Challenge every day! Tomorrow makes Day 10! I must admit, the pullups have been KILLING my shoulder. I hope it feels better tomorrow!

What was the highlight of your weekend?

Mine was finding a new cheap affordable wine to savor! Way sweeter than what I usually go for, but it is definitely tasty!
